LowBugget Crank Trigger "Bracket and hardware only, no sensor or pulley"
Precise and extremely accurate timing can now be achieved for 1/4 the price of the high-end kits.
This is the perfect setup for turbo combos that are running a locked out distributor or for the non turbo combos like used with our MSD Programable and our FiTechVW Fuel Injection systems. The accuracy that only crank trigger ignitions systems can deliver now available from Lowbugget.com
Have you noticed that your timing jumps around when you check it with timing light? This is all related to the slop or excessive gear play from brass distributor drive gear, steel distributor drive pinion, distributor key-way gear, distributor bushings and advance weights. Each one of these parts allows extra movement known as timing flutter or just flat out slop! What is "timing flutter"? That's that jumping around you see when you point your timing light at your pulley. Looks like it's the pulley slowing down and speeding up each rotation. Its not the pulley bouncing around, no its the bad, out dated ignition pick up setup that most of us still have and use in our VW's. This unwanted movement transfers to your magnetic pick-up that is mounted at the end of all this slop. Then sends the same signal to the coil.
Your combustion wants a precise firing point to take place at a certain rotation angle of the crankshaft. This precise event needs to take place over and over. One more conserin is each cylinder firing at same or at least close too same amount of advance/retard timing per cylinder. The more accurate and precise this signal is the better your internal combustion engine will work. If not corrected can lead to tuning issues, excessive unwanted heat, detonation, rod and main bearing failure, poor idle or even catastrophic engine problems. Now if you like timing flutter, irregular ruff idle, surging when at a constant rpm and just flat out shortening the life of your engine then keep it the same way!
Note: Our Crank Trigger kit will work with power pulleys, and most serpentine pulley systems. You will still use your distributor to distribute the coils output power/spark to the correct cylinder/plug. Will not work with steel pulleys. Easy to install and over built to last! We have seen 10-20* lower oil temp and 40-60* lower head temps. Back to back and on a chassis dyno has shown just over 21+hp extra by adding one of our kits.
We offer bracket only, or bracket with Comp-u-fire sensor, or same kit but with a pulley with us installing magnets in the pulley. please for more tech info or what too order give us a call!!
